Mental Ray RTT Instability

I'm working on lighting for a game, and we've decided to use the RTTGroup plugin for rendering lightmaps.
I just thought it would be good to let you guys know that I've encountered some serious stability issues when rendering lightmaps using mental ray for 100+ objects at a time.
With scanline, though, it all works just fine, so there's no real problem after all smile
Also, I don't know whether this is a bug with the plugin or mental ray itself, but I'd suggest you take a look at it to make sure.
For me, trying to  render lightmaps for 100+ object at a time with mental ray, it very often went to about 80-90% complete with the whole job, but then crashed the whole Max.
I'm using 3DS Max 2010 64-bit for this.

Re: Mental Ray RTT Instability

This is rather mental-ray bug. I updated the RTTGroup - now will be render maximum to 20 objects per one batch with mental-ray (before it is not limited). New RTTGroup for 3ds Max 2010 is ready to download from www.

I hope this will be sufficient for these errors smile

Mental-ray is not as good as V-Ray or standard scanline radiosity to baking textures.

Thanks,
Andrzej

Re: Mental Ray RTT Instability

well, I think I'm just going to stick to using scanline for rendering the rest of the lightmaps smile
